This beauty combines a classic material, a fine Ecuadorian Montecristi Panama, with the finest European hat company, Italy's Borsalino. Furthermore, the optimo styling echos the pre-Columbian origins of Panama hats. The Optimo crown is 4 inches high. The brim is 2 5/8 inches wide. The grosgrain ribbon trim is 1/2" wide with "Borsalino" embossed in gold one of the tail ends of the ribbon.

On April 17, 2004 Tom Miller, author of THE PANAMA HAT TRAIL, spoke at our Hillcrest store in San Diego. This 1986 classic of travel literature and the hat industry was re-issued in 2001 by National Geographic Adventure Press with an introduction by Tony Hillerman.
