Hat hoods, or hat bodies, are made into specific shapes or styles via blocking. The shape of the hat is determined by the mold. Here we see the aluminum molds on shelves behind the mold maker. Note the wooden structures on the right side of the image. These are used in the sand casting process that preceeds the pouring of the aluminum. The man in the tee-shirt is the mold maker, shaking hands with Bruce Zales, Jaxon Hats designer.
