Another problem I had was that the hairband began to ache after several hours. So, I detached it (easy to do) and installed a hat elastic (elastic band with metal prongs at each end) into the grosgrain sweatband on the inside perimeter of the hat. Now it works fine! Looks very pretty with my shoulder-length hair down or up.
In my experience, headbands ALWAYS ache. I wish the manufacturers of fascinators and such would not use them and use combs or elastic bands instead.
