I note now that the site says hatband it is made of stitched wool felt, but it looks like black leather in the photo... My band is brown leather; I put some leather water-repellant on my band (not the hat) before use.

Beautiful, beautiful hat! I have to agree with the description on the site: This hat is as as close to perfection as you are likely to own in your lifetime at any price... Flawless construction, not a stitch out of place, wonderful feel, elegant lining, great fit. I can also attest to its performance in the rain I note now that the site says hatband it is made of stitched wool felt, but it looks like black leather in the photo...
