I, too, would like to know if the foam should remain in the roll of the brim. As for improvements, I suggest that it be crocheted a bit tighter so that the sun doesn't filter through as much. I prefer a bit of a floppy look, so I inserted a small weight in the front and back, but that is just my preference.
Other than that, I think the hat is pretty cool.
