Charcoal is tops (5/5) May 20, 2010 Carl, Jr. MD US
Last year, I was looking for a sort of distinguished, uncommon hat that would be ideal for my occasional musician and photographer self. It was something I wanted people to associate with me. I discovered these beanies here (I prefer the term skull cap) and bought the black and charcoal. I thought that the colors would be distinctly different, but surprisingly they weren't THAT much different. However, what set them apart was the material. A previous reviewer remarked about how his cap "looks like a bag on my head" and that is almost what I felt regarding the black model when I first put it on. It was kind of thin/flimsy looking and wrinkly when I tried it on.

Fearing the same fate, I went to try on the charcoal hat. To my amazement, it was totally different, and from that moment I knew it was a match made in heaven. The beauty of this particular style is that it retains its shape... i.e. it doesn't collapse. It keeps the domed shape while I'm wearing it on my head and while it's off. In fact, it looks exactly like the picture that's displayed up there. In contrast to the black version, the fabric on the charcoal was much more sturdy.

I've gotten many great remarks about the hat, from it being simply, "cool", to being "awesome", and a "great look".

If Village Hat Shop could somehow offer or produce additional colors, but with the same material and characteristics of the charcoal style, I'd grab them in a heartbeat.

Charcoal: 5 Stars
