The felt is of medium weight, and very soft. The crown is stiffer than the brim, and has held it's shape well, even after being crunched a couple times and the occasional rain soaking. I've heard rumors of the color fading after getting wet even once, but I haven't witnessed that at all.
This is a great hat if you want a nice black fedora.
