I first purchased a hat like this (maybe the same brand, I don't remember) in the mid 1980s, and it lasted 20 years. I had a hard time finding a replacement and was pleased to find that you had this style. I ordered one in my usual size (XL), but it was too large. I returned it for a Large, and it is a bit snug--usable, but tight. Since I wear it just on windy days, too tight is better than too loose, bur comfort is lost. As for quality of materials, I doubt that this hat will last as long as my first one did. The strands of grass are thinner and more flexible (easier to break), and the weave is more open, adding to the "weak" feeling of the hat. It seems inevitable that product quality diminishes with time, and so have my expectations for a serviceable, durable hat. |
