Golden Gate Desperado (5/5) Dec 28, 2007 Amil Anderson Las Cruces Ne US
Purchased my first one in Scottsdale. Still wearing it, although rather sweat stained after five years in the SW plus a trip to Alaska. This one purchased at The Village Hat Shop [on line] 18 months ago, and am enjoying wearing it also.
Classy (5/5) Jan 5, 2009 Calvin Wang Jenkintown PA US
Maybe not the right word for a cowboy hat, but that's what it is. I was looking for something with a wider brim, but I couldn't pass up this one in black. Crushable: Much better than the Aussie oilskin hat I lost that this one's replacing. Waterproof: No seams! No place to leak, again unlike the oilskin. People who knew me by my old toque are full of praise, as am I.
Great hat (5/5) Dec 19, 2007 Henry Johnson Tucson Ar
Great hat. I bought my first in Tubac AZ, and after much wear, looked for a replacment, and was happy to discover that it was a standard model of Golden Gate. I have purchased three of four more, different colors, from Village Hat Shop - they are all uniformly excellent, fit just right, and are comfortable. I get lots of compliments, and people ask where I got it.

Great Hat, more water resistant than I would imagine, Held up great during a very rainy funeral, dried quickly and kept its form. Thanks for the alacrity in shipping my order, I know it was short notice.
Gals love this hat (5/5) Nov 3, 2008 John Allen Rutland VT US
Bought my first "Desparado" at the Grand Canyon...it was late Feb. and I wanted a warm hat. As a New Englander, I've steered away from Western hats (don't want to appear as a 'poser'). But this hat just LOOKS SO GOOD! And it's practical...just needs a chin strap to make it perfect. Six years later I bought a second in black. The look is authentic without being over the top...and did I mention that the gals LOVE this hat? Offer to let her try it on, and watch her light up when she looks in the mirror!

This is a fine hat; it looks good and wear comfortably. This is my favorite. I've had one that I bought in Calgary on 9/11/2001 and I'm still wearing it to this day.

My family went on vacation to the grand canyon around 5 years ago. my father bought me this hat and told me to enjoy it. it may seem like a bit much on the price. but it is the most comfortable hat i have ever worn. feels great, fits great. love it. it made it all the way back to NH and 5 years running. still looks wicked good.
Golden Gate Desperado is Golden! (5/5) Feb 15, 2011 Waya Cypress CA US
I'm in the Gallery, but I still have this beautiful hat! (http://www.villagehatshop.com/Waya_s_Golden_Gate_Desparado.html) It's traveled to Europe, Alaska, New Orleans, Oklahoma, Mexico, the Redwood Forest near the Klamath River, It's 12 years old and still beautiful. The kids always know how to find me....in fact one of them flew on his first plane ride (he's over 21) and he was worried in a strange place he couldn't find me...I wore this and he was so relieved....it was how he could find me "by that hat of yours!" I love it and I'll never give it up, except to replace it with ANOTHER Desperado, when it finally breathes its last...which I doubt will happen anytime soon!
Golden Gate Desperado AWESOME (5/5) Mar 10, 2011 Waya Cypress CA US
My Golden Gate Desperado has been all over the world with me: Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the Azores, Disney World, Alaska, the Redwoods, New Orleans, and it always, always gets looks and compliments. I've had it over ten years now and still love it as much as the first day I got it. It keeps its form, requires little upkeep and is very classic and stylish. I absolutely love it!!!!
