| Pulled from the box, I was impressed by the rigidity of the crown. Nice work on the lining, stitching and trim. Stuck it on my head and *drat*, too tight front to back. (I must have a "long oval" head.) I bravely pulled out my wife's handheld clothes steamer and went to work on it. Be careful-- a very small burst of steam (2 or 3 secs.) is all it takes to momentarily soften the felt. A little here and there, followed by stuffing it on my noggin and gentle reshaping, and in minutes it fit like a glove! As I narrowed the shape a bit I brought the brim down a tad in the front and the back and brought the brim up on the sides. I had a few uneven (not smooth curves) here and there around the brim. A few more gentle steam puffs and I worked those out with my fingers. The hat LOOKS a lot better with a bit of shaping and now it feels great! Take it to an expert if you are afraid to do it yourself! | ||||
| Cool Hat! (5/5) | Nov 4, 2007 | Bruce Johnson | Charlotte NC US | |
| The bowler style has become kind of a trademark for me. I have several in various colors. But since I purchased this basic black bowler, it has become my favorite. Nicely made, priced well and I get comments and questions about it. Invariably I gladly tell them it came from The Village Hat Shop. Keep up the great work! | ||||
