| Hat was too large (1/5) | Oct 28, 2009 | John Doe | Mt. Pocono pa US | |
| I ordered a size medium along with several other size medium Jaxon hats at the same time. This one was way over sized so I sent it back for an size exchange and ended up being refunded instead of getting another hat. | ||||

I loved the hat; however, I had ordered 2 in size "small". When it arrived, I measured it and it measured a size "medium" according to THEIR size chart. Village Hat Shop said they would exchange it for me if I would return it at MY EXPENSE for something that was no fault of mine. This is a big turn-off for me. I couldn't even return it for a refund or exchange without paying for another shipping cost!!! I gave the hats away. I will never buy from Village Hat Shop again because of this. There are many online businesses that have no shipping cost (even for returns) and no tax. I had a great experience with one such online business regarding a shoe purchase. |

| They seem to run large... (3/5) | Sep 27, 2009 | Charles M. Barnard | Menomonie WI US | |

Ordered 1 in brown & one in black, along with the Toyo Safari. All in medium. I run 35-36CM size 7 1/8 and these were enough larger that I could stick all 4 fingers under the front of the hat and it was still loose. Exchanged for Small, which will hopefully fit. They are very nice looking hats and seem well-made, it's just a shame that the hat industry can't seem to standardize their sizing...they'd ALL do more business if they did, in particular Internet sales. Sad too, because if the retailers were to set up a standard (preferably SI units) and include the size specification in their orders and refuse to accept deviations, the manufacturers would rapidly hue the line. Might I suggest for a standard: Inside circumference, inside front to back and side to side and possibly the bottom to center crown point, all in millimeters |

| Overall good value (3/5) | Jan 24, 2010 | Bart | Santa Barbara CA US | |
| Ordered a medium. Tends to run a tad large, but with the padding that came in the box, it fits snugly and comfortably. Wish I had a choice of bands. If S&H charges were less, it would have been a great value. Even so, the cost was about half that in local stores. I'd give the hat itself 4 stars, but the lazy UPS delivery person left the box on the stairs instead of by the door to the house! It rained before we got home, so the box was wet. Village Hat ought to complain to UPS; maybe consider switching to FedEx? | ||||
| Great hat with some reservations (4/5) | Oct 28, 2009 | Anonymous | ||

My husband loves this hat, and it's a great hat for the price. Very dashing! He gets compliments on it everywhere we go. I'd rate it 5 stars if not for a few issues: I got this hat for my husband in an XL. He's right on the borderline between an XL and an XXL, so buying him hats is always kind of a crapshoot. It was a bit small, so I carefully cut out the sweatband and now it fits well. The feather on the side was, um, how to put this delicately? Hideous. So my husband removed it. The only other issue I have with this hat is that the decorative band seems a bit loose, especially around the bow. It kind of gaps a little. I put in a few stitches to make it lay flat though, and now it's great! |

| well worth it (4/5) | Nov 1, 2009 | Freddie Jaye | Allentown PA US | |

This is a great hat, and I've received numerous compliments on it. As another reviewer noted, though, sizing runs a bit large. I was able to exchange it for a smaller size, and I'm quite pleased. Customer service was stupendous, and I will be buying more hats in the future. The only downside to the whole transaction was the exchange process. When the (smaller) replacement hat arrived, the package included a free adhesive backed "hat sizer" for making big hats a bit smaller. It would have been simpler and less costly for both parties to just send me the sizer in the first place, to use with the original hat. Other than that, a wonderful company.- |

I really like thus hat, it's a great hat for the price. Very dashing! I get compliments on it everywhere we go. The feather on the side is gaudy but you can remove it. It perfect for a low cost hat and it comes with a nice box to strore it in! |
