Excellent overall except the velcro that adjust's the head band was not long enough to adjust down to my size. I had the regular size version and when adjusted to fit, it had to be adjusted all the way out and my head hit the shell. The cooling effect when soaked works as stated. I icommonly wear a 7 1/8 long oval. |

| This hat fits my 7 1/2 head size beautifully. This hat is a classic design and it's style makes anyone wearing it look good. If you like attention in a good way, wear this hat. If you expect to wear the Pith, incognito, you just can't , people love it too much! They insist on complimenting your hat choice. I wore this hat during a family vacation and it was perfect for fishing, boating or lounging in the sun. During our vacation, we also went on a tour of the Wilds, an outdoor exotic animal conservation area in Southern Ohio. Perfect for the occasion! I have been looking for a durable summer hat for some time now and was glad to find an authentic pith! I retrofitted the sweatband with additional velcro for a more secure fit and rubbed some mink oil into the chinstrap for a more authentic leather look. Careful not to get any oil on the hat! |

| Great Hat. The Hat is well made and the leather band inside is adjustable. Also, it is surprisingly light unlike all the plastic knock-offs. There is no wunder why the British and others have used it in the tropics. It is my new lake sitting and drinking beer hat. | ||||

I just got this in the mail and it surpasses my wildest dreams. I rarely find a hat big enough to fit my head let alone a classic like a pith helmet. I'm taking a high school group to Egypt in April can't wait to trek the desert sands with this on my head. It arrived quickly (or at least when they said it would), it looks and feels well-made and it makes you want to go exploring. Brilliant! If I send back a photo of me wearing it in front of a pyramid do I get a discount? |

The hat is nice- buy it. Now for the important part- I recently wore the hat at a competition on the beach in Florida. It was great- the sea breeze blew over the hat and over my head, keeping me very cool on a warm Florida day. The larger size kept my head, face and neck safely shaded. If you are thinking about a traditional pith helmet- pick this one. |

| This hat is the best thing I've ever found for harsh sun and heat. Any breeze will go underneath to keep you cool while the wide brim keeps the sun off. It's far better than a boonie hat or anything made of straw. It may be a fashion risk, but it's the most comfortable hat you can imagine. | ||||

| I had been wearing an old WW II pith helmet that was given to me by my dad. My wife insisted that I replace it, and this was an excellant choice. It is light-weight, wider brimmed and much cooler than the one that I replaced. I've worn it to the beach and it provided excellant shade. It is now my favorite outdoor hat for working in the yard. I highly recommend this helmet. And the "big-head version" seems to be the right fit. I had my doubts as I wore a 7 3/8, but am glad that I went for it. | ||||

No hesitation in giving 100% recommendation: competent workmanship, great price, with superb delivery to the UK. These Indian Pith Helmets are very light ("light as a feather") and comfortable to wear. They give better protection than a baseball cap in hot sun, because the brim of the pith helmet protects your face *and ears* from getting sunburnt. A pity that the Indian Pith Helmets (Big Head Version) are only available on the USA website (and not on the company's UK website) - but these are must-have summer/tropical wear. Village Hat Shop Indian Pith Helmets surely represent outstanding value for any gentleman considering buying one online. Well done, Village Hat Shop. You have my wholehearted recommendation. |
