| Taking a standard size hat shell and giving it a velcro band does not create a "big head" version. Customers should be warned that this hat will not fit a head larger than 7-1/2 (if that). It didn't even come close to fitting my 7-3/4 head. | ||||

| As I wrote in returning the hat, I loved the hat itself very much. But the inside headband is totally flimsy and came apart completely when I first tried the helmet on. If you improve that unacceptable headband, I would buy it again gladly. Would someone there please reply to me. Thanks. | ||||

| I'm very happy that I've finally been able to find an original style Pith Helmet that fits my size 7 1/2 noggin. BUT, the vent holes in the very top of the helmet were plugged with the khaki material used on the top button, that could be and was fixed. The fact that my head fills up most of the helmet doesn't allow for a breeze, as many of you have described, to flow up from the sides across the top of my bald head to keep it cool. With minimal air flow I sweat a lot. The sweat rolls off of my noggin and into my eyes, which isn't fun. I had always thought of this type of helmet as being much cooler. In that respect, I'm disappointed. | ||||

This hat is great for anyone who wants to stay cool, look cool, and be an all around nifty individual. I bought this hat to beat the heat at Bonnaroo this summer and it worked out perfectly. It stood up to the test in the 90+ degree sun of the TN countryside. The cork material is light and very sturdy, so the strap isn't really a necessity. I would soak this under the hose in the morning and head out for the day. The hat would stay cool, and talk about being easy to find in a crowd. Want to stick out in a crowd of about 30 thousand people and be easy to find when your friends go buy beer, use the restroom, and be shot down by hot hippy chicks? Wear a pith helmet. This hat is for anyone wanting to be in the sun, explore a jungle, or keep water out of your eyes in the shower. Sure, the chin strap is just for decoration and the headband needed some fiddling and adjustment, but I am more than satisfied with my purchase. Oh yeah - my head is big and this fits perfectly. WARNING - this hat makes a terrible frisbee Thanks Hats.com! I have become a valuable member of society thanks to your wonderful product. I recommend this hat to all my friends and sworn enemies. |

| 5 stars would be perfect; this isn't but it's darn close--one slight imperfection but they said they come with small dents. Still, I am well pleased. Have not used it in super hot conditions but its everything I hoped for. Got here fast, too; and great price; thanks for being there, Village Hat Shop! | ||||

The service when ordering, responding to emails and delivering was excellent. Great looking hat, great fit (I am one of the BIG heads). I expect nothing but great service. Only thing I would add is a strap to keep in place on windy days fishing... on the other hand it does float! |

| This is indeed a big head hat. I wear a 7 5/8 and had to cinch up the headband for a good fit. The construction is good, the adjustable band seems a bit lightweight but is adequate. The strap on the helmet I received was orange, not brown as shown in the main product image. I would have preferred brown but in all this is a well made, great fitting pith helmet for the price. | ||||

The hat looks great. It's robust, with a great feel. The only drawback is that "genuine leather" sweatband. It has a waxy covering on it, making it about as breathable as vinyl. NOT comfortable when in the heat that this helmet is designed for. Note that it's a close fit for my head, and I usually can find hats. The aluminum air vent liners are sort of tacky, but are undoubtedly better than something that would oxidize and run. They just could have used some finer casting; they look rough. The stitching and cut and all is top drawer. The look overall is great. Note that the leather strap is NOT adjustable, but it can be used under the chin. I haven't yet had the guts to immerse it in water, because it looks so great as it is. I have used it for shedding rain during rainstorms, and it did great. Looks excellent with a kilt and a Webley. Trust me. |
