| I had been wearing an old WW II pith helmet that was given to me by my dad. My wife insisted that I replace it, and this was an excellant choice. It is light-weight, wider brimmed and much cooler than the one that I replaced. I've worn it to the beach and it provided excellant shade. It is now my favorite outdoor hat for working in the yard. I highly recommend this helmet. And the "big-head version" seems to be the right fit. I had my doubts as I wore a 7 3/8, but am glad that I went for it. | ||||

| I mow lawns in Texas. The temperatures are hot and the humidity is high. Up to now I have worn a standard straw hat with a "dew rag" under it to absorb the sweat. The result was hot sweat on my bald head. I now submerse the pith helmet for about 30 seconds, wet the dew rag and am good to go. Even walking behind the mower makes enough air move under the helmet and over the rag to drop my head temperature. I wish I had found this sooner. | ||||

the sun was snickering at my baseball cap, so i leveled the playing field by going pith. this is a terrific hat. it is lightweight, sturdy, attractive, elegant, & unimaginably better than a baseball cap at providing shade for my head & face. i started with the standard size, then made a free exchange to get the bigger one, which is big enough to accommodate the headset for my ipod. the adjustable inner sizing band works well, as does the stylish & functional chin strap, which comes in handy on windy days. this is a great hat. i walk 4 or 5 miles a day in direct sunlight, & this pith helmet makes all the difference in the world. the price is halfway between a bargain & a miracle. |

| A pith helmet needs to be bigger than a normal hat to allow air circulation. Unlike a normal hat, it does not rest directly on your head -- what rests on your head is the suspended leather band inside, leaving air space. The leather band is adjustable to fit. You can add some adhesive velcro further along the band if you need to make it even smaller. This "big head" version is sized for a normal adult -- you don't need to be Mr. Potato Head to wear it. Some earlier reviews said the leather on the head band and the chin strap is flimsy and orange. The one I received in September 2010 had sturdy-seeming dark brown leather, as in the picture. My only criticism is that the lining inside and under the brim is white fabric, rather than dark green, or some other dark color. The white, under the brim especially, will probably look dirty soon. But I'm happy with my new hat -- very pukka! | ||||

| A pith helmet that fits my head and my eccentric taste. Lightweight, comfortable, and perfect for almost any hot/sunny weather outdoor activity. Don't let any negative reviews discourage any of you looking for a decent pith helmet. This pith is the real deal, no "el cheapo". Though if only they had a big head version of their "British[UK] style pith helmet...I can only dream. | ||||

No hesitation in giving 100% recommendation: competent workmanship, great price, with superb delivery to the UK. These Indian Pith Helmets are very light ("light as a feather") and comfortable to wear. They give better protection than a baseball cap in hot sun, because the brim of the pith helmet protects your face *and ears* from getting sunburnt. A pity that the Indian Pith Helmets (Big Head Version) are only available on the USA website (and not on the company's UK website) - but these are must-have summer/tropical wear. Village Hat Shop Indian Pith Helmets surely represent outstanding value for any gentleman considering buying one online. Well done, Village Hat Shop. You have my wholehearted recommendation. |

| This hat fits my 7 1/2 head size beautifully. This hat is a classic design and it's style makes anyone wearing it look good. If you like attention in a good way, wear this hat. If you expect to wear the Pith, incognito, you just can't , people love it too much! They insist on complimenting your hat choice. | Great Hat. The Hat is well made and the leather band inside is adjustable. Also, it is surprisingly light unlike all the plastic knock-offs. There is no wunder why the British and others have used it in the tropics. It is my new lake sitting and drinking beer hat. | ||||

This hat is great for anyone who wants to stay cool, look cool, and be an all around nifty individual. I bought this hat to beat the heat at Bonnaroo this summer and it worked out perfectly. It stood up to the test in the 90+ degree sun of the TN countryside. The cork material is light and very sturdy, so the strap isn't really a necessity. I would soak this under the hose in the morning and head out for the day. The hat would stay cool, and talk about being easy to find in a crowd. Want to stick out in a crowd of about 30 thousand people and be easy to find when your friends go buy beer, use the restroom, and be shot down by hot hippy chicks? Wear a pith helmet. This hat is for anyone wanting to be in the sun, explore a jungle, or keep water out of your eyes in the shower. Sure, the chin strap is just for decoration and the headband needed some fiddling and adjustment, but I am more than satisfied with my purchase. Oh yeah - my head is big and this fits perfectly. WARNING - this hat makes a terrible frisbee Thanks Hats.com! I have become a valuable member of society thanks to your wonderful product. I recommend this hat to all my friends and sworn enemies. |
