This is really a great hat! Workmanship is quite fine, and fit is excellent. There is a velcro band at the rear of the hat which allows some adjustment if the hat is really too big. The pocket in the crown is handy, seals with velcro, too: big enough for a card/key. The brim is quite broad, more than appears in some photos, and the brim in the rear hangs down behind the head like an "Aussie" hat. Maybe more than an aussie. Actually, it hang way down in back! The hat is VERY light weight, can't really tell when its on! The crown is not stiff on the sides at all, and won't hold a pinch or demple. The top of the crown is semi stiff, with a foam panel inside for flotation, and holds a flat appearance: it will stay flat and won't hold a crease. I wear a 8 1/8 extra long oval, and most hats that fit are distorted at the brim by the oval shape of my head. Not this one; so, if you're a long oval, don't worry about fit with this hat. |

This is one of the best all-around hats I've ever owned. I spend time outdoors, and in Texas, we're real particular about our hats: they serve a purpose! The hat's versatile, comfortable, and I've liked the chinstrap: gets a little windy out on the lands sometimes... While it's not the traditional felt or straw from my childhood in west Texas, dang good hat. By the way: Tilley STANDS behind their guarantee if you need it. My first had a problem, and they had no problem with replacing it. Generally, though, they're EXCELLENT. The oldest hat I own, and still the fave. |

I don't normally wear hats ... not even ball caps. But I love this hat! I bought it for sun protection (and possibly light rain) in preparation for my first vacation trip to Hawaii. I wore it constantly while there. Extremely comfortable, sizing was absolutely perfect. The straps, used as directed, helped to save the hat on several occasions from being lost due to a gust of wind. |
