The Monaco Sunhat from sur la tete is a great hat for the rocky beaches along the Mediterranean or when sitting at the cafe sipping your apritif. This hat breathes in warm weather and is light weight.
3 1/2" Crown.
5 3/4" Brim.
55% linen, 45% cotton.
Cotton lining.
Cotton adjustable drawstring sweatband.
Colors: Black, Beige, White, and Pink.
Sizes: Medium and Large.
Having designed the hat, I decided to take it for a test run while on a cruise in the Bahamas.
First test was packing the hat to get to the vacation destination. When packing a hat, I usually stuff the crown with socks, pack it upside down while supporting the brim with clothes; but I had a trolley (rolling) garment bag so the usual was not going to work. I packed the hat flat (no stuffing in the crown, brim down-not folded in anyway, there is a plastic support in the brim that helps to retain the shape of the brim) near the hanger clamp, inbetween some clothes, zipped it up; and when I opened my bag in the Bahamas, the hat was still in place.
Small wrinkles were easily steamed out when placed on the bathroom door hook during a shower. The hat traveled well and retained it's shape. I received compliments on the wide brim and simple but classic design. This hat will work with many face shapes, you can flip the brim up in the front, when you need a better view; or flip it up in the back when reading your book while on a deck chair in the sun. Don't be afraid to travel with your hat! |
