This hat begins with a 20-grade Panama Monticristi Fino. The unblocked hat comes to us via an ex-Peace Corps volunteer who - while stationed in Manabi Province, Ecuador where these hats are hand woven - married a man from the area. This couple buys primo bodies in our behalf - no middleman involved. We then forward the unblocked hat bodies to a 100-year old hat factory in Fall River, MA where they are blocked and finished as you see pictured here.
If desired, the "factory stiffness" can be softened by steaming. The hats are teflon treated and include the high quality VanBauer sweatband.
Note that each hat is an "individual" so the drop-down menu will indicate the hat size as well as the brim width at the front of the hat. The brim width at the sides of the hat is somewhat wider than at the front.
