Herringbone Wool Blend Newsboy Cap

The newsboy cap is just what I was looking for. I prefer the panel look over the ivy solid style of cap. The Jaxons are baggy; I have 4 and each one has a different level of bagginess(material sags a little iver the band and close to the ears). It's fine though. Recommend. Four stars,only for the slight inconsistency in the bagginess, but not a major deal breaker.

I replaced my old newsboy cap w/ a new one from Jaxson hats and the thickness of the material is substantially thinner than my 5 year old cap. It is in my opinion no longer a product I would choose to purchase again

This hat is made of light material and is comfortable to wear in warm weather. I ordered mine with a loose fit to add to the comfort.

It took awhile for this cap to grow on me. Perfectly fine for an inexpensive cap, but I wasn't thrilled with the feel of the fabric blend at first. But that only lasted about a day. Feels fine now and looks fine. What I really liked was the proper sizing. I have always had trouble getting caps that are big enough. The XXL is perfect. It has supplanted my all wool cap I bought about 17 years ago in Windsor across the street from Windsor Castle. That one always ran a little tight. ;)

I am very satisfied with this purchase. The hat is made with quality material and looks amazing. It also fit as expected. I ordered a large. I am definitely going to order again!!

Well constructed cap; great fit. Crown snap with built-in bill shaped reinforcement maintains crown shape over bill, a new twist on the classic newsboy. This also allows for the use of less fabric in the crown. Lightweight Herringbone wool fabric is warm enough for cool weather. Thank you Village Hat Shop.

I push a size 8 so finding anything that fits is challenging. The Jaxon in XXLis nearly too big but that's fine with me.

My only wish is that Jaxon had more variety of colors in the same style / size hat. Would love to get into some reds and blues (other than navy).

I have a big head (24.5"), so I took the the XXL but it was a tad too big. but I prefer that than a smaller hat that won't fit... Maybe I'll buy some hat sizers next time.

I bought a Newsboy Cap and am delighted with it. It is authentic, it fits and it looks good. I plan to wear it when I'm cruising around in my hot rod.

This was one of three I bought together and by far my favorite. It is lighter that the "Tickweave" and in a warmer climate that's desirable. It is a tad loose in fit, but that's a good thing with a Newsboy styles, avoid "hat head". Prefer Jaxon over Kangol for look, feel and price.

Bought an XL to fit my 7.5" head and it was WAY too big. Quick turnaround return and the Large that I got back still was to large but with needle and thread I took it in (with a little pucker in the back that looks fine) and now it fits great. Lightweight but nicely lined...a nice hat for a change of pace from my long billed ball caps also from Village Hat. 4 stars because of sizing...I've never worn a size Medium hat ever.

I bought a stetson "Mountain Sky" western hat. excellent ! Looks good, shipped fast. I ordered a large, it was a little loose. LOOSE is better than tight. Go buy 3/4 " weather stripping , cut 2 pieces 4" long and stick under the sweat band on both sides. FITS like a glove.

This hat is a little lighter weight than my husband expected, but it is fine quality and fits well.

I always wanted a Newsboy style hat. They look great and remind me of the past, when this was a common hat. It fits great, and I would certainly buy it again. Next up for me is a Derby, and maybe a Ferdora. If you are sick of the same old baseball type hat, try these folks for something different and stylish!

Liked the hat. It fit well. The material could have used a little more body, but for the price was a good deal. No where did it mention that it was made in China - that was upsetting. My first preference is made in the USA. My second preference is made anywhere else but China. And, I am willing to pay extra for that political stance.

This is a great hat at a great price and shipped pretty quickly. The size is just right for me. The only reason it didn't get a full 5 stars from me is I would have liked one or two more color choices (even though I like the color I picked and had it in mind to begin with).

It is difficult to beat the look and quality of this cap at this price. The fit is right, it's light and comfortable, not overly large, and it looks great. It's not the Ivy League cap some confuse for a Newsboy. This is the proper 8-panel cloth cap that's been popular for more than 100 years. It could easily become your favorite cap.

I purchased both the Union and Gotham newsboy caps from Village Hats and love them. Since the dimensions on this cap were similar, I figured it would be a good fit. Not so. This was very light, not nearly as substantial as the others and lay flatter and much wider on my head than I liked. Not to take away from the quality or craftsmanship, but it doesn't compare to the Union or Gotham cops, which fit perfectly and look as newsboy caps should.

this is the second one of this type I bought. The first one ran large and was sent cap extenders and they worked well. The 2nd one of a different color and one size smaller was not only good looking but fit perfectly. So i just ordered 2 more Jaxon hats.

I was looking all over for a decent newsboy style cap for a Roaring Twenties party and finally found it. It was great for the party and will be in heavy use in the future for daily wear. Great material, style, and a very good price.

Large is a little too large, and I suspect Medium would be a little too small. It's a nice cap, bit it would be better with a elastic sweatband.

Last year I purchased a Brown Herringbone Newsboy Cap. I was very happy with it ,looked good, fit perfect. This year I purchased a Black Herringbone. Was not happy. Cost more quality was not near as good, does not fit well (sames size as the other hat) it is bigger. Not happy at all with cap.

I bought this hat to replace one I lost and I couldn't remember which hat I bought the first time. This hat is ok, but it doesn't feel very substantial and should have been more like a $10 hat.

The hat is priced right, but it doesn't hold its intended shape and is 60% polyester. There are many great hat manufacturers. Do we need hats from China??

It's not a bad cap for the money. It's definitely better than some of the well known and higher priced caps that I have. At first I wasn't too impressed with this cap when I first got it. I wanted something that was more vintage looking with an extended visor. This cap has some cardboard like material that makes the front stiff hiding the visor. A simple modification of cutting away the cardboard from around the snap and the material can be moved around where you want it to expose the visor. It definitely looks more vintage now and I've gotten a lot of positive comments on the cap since then. Yeah, I'll probably buy another one. In fact, I'm looking at one now as I write this review...

It's definitely a fine hat for the price. BUT, here's the deal. If you have a medium head size, you might want to get the smaller size. I've ordered five different Jaxon newsboy hats in medium (which is normally my size), and they're all a tad big. Try the small size first, rather than medium, and see if that works for you. The one ""small"" size I ordered works okay (still a bit awkward - maybe the manufacturing company of Jaxon has weird head sizes?). Ain't great, but better than the floppy medium in the other four hats. I love the Village Hat Shop, by the way. Couldn't locate any of these hats without them. Thank you for that.

Last Fall I lose my Jaxon Newsboy Cap. It was the more expensive model and was only available in one color so I jumped on this model as it was on sale and available in grey or brown, which works with all of my jackets. The cap is very comfortable and will keep you warm withyout being a problem during the milder days. My experience with Jaxon is that they make very good quality products with attention to details and the fit. They are available through many outlets but I've found that Village Hat is best for me as they focus in on service and value to offset their lack of proximity and convenience of a brick & mortar shop near me.Two thumbs up!

At the very least 4 stars. More like 4.5, but I am a tough grader. It is good looking, warm, and perhaps a little tight fitting which comes in very handy in the wind. Great buy considering the price. I received it soon after ordering. These latter good points pushed my rating to 5. Comfortable, stylish and warm.

Who would believe that a cap of this low price would be so well made? My husband loves it and so I am ordering the brown one for him as well.

For the price you can't beat this hat -- comfortable, good construction, looks good. It would be a better choice for spring or fall than winter. While it is wool blend (40%), it is perhaps not as warm as I would like. If you want stylish and affordable this is your hat. If you want warmth, spend the money for a wool cap.

This is the 3rd hat that I have purched from the Village Hat Shop and each one exceeds my expectations...

Very Disappointed. It only slightly resembles the 'old school' newsboy hats. Not what I expected. Not what I wanted. It looks more like a poofy flatcap. Terrible fit. Department store quality (poor). It's definitely a $15.00 hat but don't expect more than that. No more online buying for me. Next time, I'll go to a store where I can try one on before I buy it. I gave it one star because that's as low as the review would allow me to score it.

I bought this cap as an alternative to my heavy wool ""ball"" style caps for winter. Excellent quality for the price. Fully lined, with a good, stiff brim. The wool material is a bit light for deep winter, but should serve well with a light fall jacket or sweater.

Readers: My wife bought this Cap for an Anniversary gift for me. She well knows my love of Good Hats. This one came as a real surprize to me; it has a very good fabrick, good attention to detail, it is well sewn, and uses all the 'tricks of the hat trade ' to very good use. The use of twill tape for a sweat band is quite novel, and very sensible: if you wear it out, just replace it, without demolishing the cap into the bargain. Readers, if you want a good quality Cap at a good price per dollar spent, and you wish to appear in publick in something other than a cheap baseball cap: this would be a good choice. Measure your size, to get it right: but if you fall between the 'cracks in the sizeing scale ' a clever seamstress can fit it to your head in less than a half hour, if it is larger to begin with, and not smaller, the seams are too narrow to alter. The Villiage Hat Shop did very well on the customer service end of the matter; I was and am very pleased with them. I ordered the Jaxon Herringbone cap as a costume accessory for a musical performance. It was delivered quickly, fit perfectly and was all I'd hoped for. Others commented on the flattering appearance and now I (not normally a hat person) occasionally wear it in our rainy Northwest weather. I would recommend this company highly.

I received a Jaxon mini-check 8/4 cap for Christmas and liked it so much I recently bought a brown and a grey herringbone cap. These are well made caps that fit well and look great. I ordered two of these hats, one in each color and really had very low expectations for the price. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and fit. I ordered extra large and I guess someone at village hats might think I made a mistake as they sent along those little things you stick inside the hat to make them fit better. But the size was dead on and the hats fit great, the only thing I don't know is how well they will wear. The one I replaced I have been wearing since 1978 and still have it so I hope these will give me another 32 years!!!
