In the 1880s, hats grew larger with taller crowns and were worn for all different occasions. A dapper top hat like the Bollman Equestrian, paired with tulle or a silk scarf, was popular for riding. Bollman selected this equestrian hat in burgundy with a contrasting grosgrain ribbon hatband and binding to represent this decade.
