When The Village Hat Shop opened in May of 1980 we were purely a western hat store. After all, we are in the West and at the time, URBAN COWBOY, the movie and DALLAS, the T.V. show were very popular and driving fashion, club life and much of popular culture. Well, one day in the spring of 1981, cowboy hats stopped selling in San Diego. We mark that as the time when we aggressively went out to discover the hat world. The result is what you see today, namely the largest breadth of hat selection anywhere.
