My favorite style of hat ,,,,,, customer service did everything they could to help me get the right size I will be Ordering again and telling all my friends

I almost flipped when I took this hat out of the box. It ROCKS! I hope it fits… I bought it for Christmas 2021. I am an early shopper. He will love it I know it. He owns four hats that look a lot like this but seriously…nothing compares to craftsmanship. Excited to give it to him.

An Australian client got me this hat as a gift. It has been a wonderful hat, protects from sunlight with what seems to be a wide brim, and I am VERY happy with it. I only wish I knew 1) what the source of the felt was, and 2) whether it is water resistant (although living in L.A. that is not much of a concern.

I Bought this hat on sale and the shipping to Canada was so inexpensive I thought maybe I was getting scammed! But no! The hat came quicker than it would if it was coming from within the country, nicely packaged and just as expected! My dad loves these hats, I can’t wait to give it to him for Christmas!

This is a great hat ... you just can't compare it to any other! And The Village Hat Shop gives the best service and support there is!

After finally watching The Man from Snowy River, I knew I wanted to buy the hat. I've ordered from Village Hat shop before and knew about their excellent service. The hat came a few days after I ordered it in a nice strong hat box. The hat is beautiful and fits me pretty good. And it does a great job from the sun and rain. Thank you.

I have wanted a Snowy River hat for years. Finally decided the time was right and purchased it through the Village Hat Shop. I had no problems with the order and shipping was fast. The hat itself is everything I expected. High quality and well made, it should last a lifetime. I read as many reviews as I could find before buying this hat, so I was aware of some particulars about this hat that others had mentioned. First, the fit feels a little on the large size based on the given measurements. My normal hat size would be a 57 based on my measurements, but this hat has a very low crown which causes it to rest on the top of my head before the sides come all the way down to where a hat would normally rest just above the ears. This isn't extreme, but just enough to make down-sizing a good idea. I ordered a size 56 and it is still slightly loose, but not enough to go smaller. I'll probably pad out the head band a little to customize the fit to my exact liking. The second issue for me is purely preference, but one that I will also customize, and that is the shape of the brim. The sides of this hat curve upward significantly more than I prefer. I like a more relax brim, one that I would call more of an Outback style than American Western look. For those familiar with "The Man From Snowy River" movie from which this hat gets its name, I like the look of Jim Craigs hat. The sides on his hat are much flatter. Just more of the look I am after. Therefore, I am going to steam and reshape the brim more to my liking. Both of these issues I found in reviews by others and they helped me in my purchase decision. Hopefully my review will help others as well. All in all, this is a great hat and I am glad to now have an official Akubra Snowy River. I am giving this 5 stars since I can't select 4.5. I would only knock off half a point for these two issues. The size issue is the only one of major concern since we all want our hats to fit well. But given the right information (fitting information from other customers) you should be able to successfully narrow down you size choice. One other thing to mention is that the Snowy River currently sold by Village Hat Shop (as of 10/2015) does have a nice inside liner in the hat. Some other sites that sell the Snowy River have versions without the liner, while others have a version that includes a small feather in the side of that hat band. This one does not have the feather, which I also prefer not to have. Hope this helps!

I Love the hat the quality and the service. I ordered the hat from Canada. The delivery was fast, safe and the hat is very well made. The leather strap band is quality!

The hat was a great hat,I ordered a size 7 3/8 it was very big on my head. I was afraid to order again because the hat being oversized did not set right on my head. I the reason it did not fit was because it sets too high on my head. I choose to return it and get a refund. I am still waiting on my refund.

This is a very good hat at a great price. The hat looks very cool. The quality is much better than I expected. I own about six hats and this one is at the top of the list!

This is my second hat also. I am reminded of losing one like this in Idaho while walking. We were hunting and the clouds moved in and bcame totaly black. I lost my hat that night and I was als going to get another one. Plus I was thinking about giving this one away.

In this soft and lightweight Akubra Snowy River Hat, the shade on the face is enough and the stylish shape is reconizeable. Love it.

A great alternative to the Stetson Gun Club. More stylish with a better shape off the shelf. Brim size is nice too, between the Gun Club and a traditional cowboy hat. Hat siize runs full. My experience with the Gun Club and Australian ouback hats is to order one size larger and then tighten with filler strips. I think my normal size would have sufficed with the Akubra hat

Traditional Akubra quality. More substantial than it looks in the photos. A geat hat. Since it is Australian, the size is actually metric. The 7 3/8 equates to a size 59.
