Hat is well made, with a quilted lining that seems warm. The oilcloth repels water as it should.

Not quite as large a hat as some "newsboys" a little trimmer, but looks good and will protect your head.

Just need rain

Great looking hat. Fit and finish as advertised. I bought this as a winter cap so haven't had a chance to try out its water repellent feature (its only early Sept.) but I did dribble some water on it and it ran off like water off a duck's back.

Incredible Caps

I ordered 3 of these caps. The sizing seems to run a bit small, but not so much that it would keep me from wearing it. The oil cloth which is rain resistant is very helpful since I live in Portland, OR. I have ordered other wool schoolboy caps and I love them all! Village Hat Shop does an excellent job of shipping their hats and I will be buying Fedoras in my next round of hats. I first found out about VHS when I ran across videos on Youtube and they did an amazing job with describing them and how to steam a hat, too. Thanks so much VHS, I shall return!

Seems solidly made and, although the oilcloth is an unusual material to most modern Americans, the sheen is not unattractive and the general look is handsome. Only time will tell how well it wears - that I can not comment upon at this time.

Cool cap

This is one cool cap! Being partial to the newsboy style, I have several. This one has gone to the top of my favorites list. Great color (the brown), correct fit, double snap gives it a very slightly different look, and I like the fabric. Some might find it too shiny, but that's part of its appeal, to me. Really does look "oiled."

Hat works perfect in the rainy fall in the Windy City. On day I got it we saw rain and wind and this hat took on the task with great aplomb. Looks cool with nice shape and sits well on the head. This will also work in dead of winter with a scarf.
