My wool fiddler's cap gives this 79 year old a jaunty, seafaring look while not letting too much heat escape from my balding head in our North Carolina winters.

I have a large head, 7-5/8 to 7-3/4. The XL size fit fine. Seemed decently made. The quality was certainly acceptable for the $25-ballpark. Ordered black and it was black. Arrived within a few days of ordering, faster than I expected. Wore it the next day at a gig -- I'm a fiddler in a Scandinavian folk band here in Idaho. Set off my outfit nicely.

A great hat at a great price. It was a little too large so the shop sent me a free pair of hat sizing strips. I have bought 5 hats from Village Hat Shop. Great value and great service.

I used to have Greek sailor's cap, but opted for this one several years ago because it was plain (no scrambled eggs or detailing on the bill). It's works well keeping the head dry and warm through the winter months. My son, who's going to school in the damp UK this year, liked mine so much he wanted one for himself.

I ordered this hat some months ago and it is still a favorite. The quality is very good and the size and fit are perfect. A very comfortable cap to wear and I get many compliments on it. Its become my favorite daily hat. Took a lot of engagement pics in this. I was in a car wreck and all my books fell on this hat. No damages and it wasn't even bent. It is a bit thin on the top so hopefully they can get a thicker winter version.

Got this as a costume piece. It's great for a turn-of-the-century or Russian Revolution look. Nice wool felt, well-made and holds its shape.

This is like a Greek sailor's cap, but without the pretension. I don’t want ""scrambled eggs"" on the visor or front. The fabric is equally low-key. It's a good black, not just dark gray. I wish it also came in a bright red, or royal blue. (I got this to replace a red knit-fabric cap of similar construction, which I've worn for 25 years ... ""worn"" now taking on double meaning.) Considering the price, I don't mind that the band around the inside (which holds the rim of the cap up) is made of plastic, not leather. And it turns out that it's only 40% wool (60% polyester), but the fabric looks and feels great. Inside the hat, thin fabric covers that headband, so it's comfortable. Except, in very cold weather, it conducts cold to the forehead, and in warmer weather, the plastic collects sweat, doesn't pass it through. So I've put a bit of knit fabric between the liner and the band, which is solution enough for both issues. (With or without this addition, in my case a Large fits well, and for reference my exact hat size is 7-3/8 Long Oval.) But if there's any feedback to the factory, a durable leather-band version (no ""pressed leather,"" please) might be preferable. Or use thick fabric instead. Or perforate the plastic? Or make a ""floppy"" version. (That is, with no rigid stiffener -- my old hat had none, and was thus even more pocketable in my outerwear.). The band is sewn-in and integral to the cap's constructions, so it can't simply be removed. One other caveat -- on opening the box, I was alarmed to find that the visor curled down severely on one side. To Village Hat Shop's credit, they were ready to expedite a replacement, but first asked me to try curling it back, which they figured should work. They were right. I suppose it could be corrected through a few weeks of fondling, but I chose to speed up the process by clamping the visor around a large dowel for several hours. Although if you happen to get a cap in this shape I suggest you check with VilHat first, a couple doses of this clamping did the trick, and the visor has stayed in correct shape ever since. (For all I know it would have reverted to normal over time anyway.) By the way, the distorted visor made it look as if the visor or even the entire hat was off-center. Not so. Using a tracing, triangle and ruler, I determined that the visor was PERFECTLY shaped and centered on the cap! Once the slouch was fixed, no more optical illusion. (And note that the label is not necessarily meant to be centered -- even in the product photo -- so don't judge by that.) I hope to wear this signature hat for many winters to come. Unless they come out with a red one.

I love my Jackson Fiddler's cap. Good quality and well worth the price. I always wear my cap when I go to the Sail Club and have received many compliments. Ialso have two Jackson Spitfire hats which I like.

This cap is adorable. I bought it for my 22 year old son to compliment his ""Russian poet"" Halloween costume but I think I'll be keeping it for me! Well made and so reasonably priced.

My hat arrived quickly and was packaged so there's almost no way it could be damaged. I have always liked the shape of the Greek fisherman's cap (I had one years ago) but I didn't want the decoration on the visor in front. The fiddler's cap turned out to be what I was looking for. The Jaxton fiddler's wool cap is everything I hoped it would be....comfortable, a shade darker than the black shown in the website pic, but most of all what surprised me is that it's not too hot to wear even in Florida's summer heat. Overall this is a hat of great quality for a low price. I have bought from The Village Hat Shop and from Jaxton before and I will do it again. I'm a very satisfied customer.

I was quite disappointed when I received my Jaxon Fiddler's Wool Cap. The brim was approximately 3/4 of an inch of center. It makes wearing the cap difficult for I need to adjust how I wear it according to the brim.

Bought a fiddlers cap from village hat shop after checking out several sellers. Very happy with my purchase and would buy from them again.

The Jaxon Fiddler caps are excellent. However, I would like to see both the wool and cotton caps have a choice of more colors- white, navy blue, gray, and beige. I would also like to see Jaxon offer the fiddler cap in denim.

I bought this hat for a Fiddler on the Roof show. The quality of the wool and the construction of the hat far exceeded my expectations. The buttons are secure, the decorative hat band is tight, the satin lining looks top notch, and the visor is very sturdy. This is not a cheap costume hat, this is definitely a real everyday garment. The wool is fairly thin so it is perfect under the stage lights or hot summers. I wear a 7 1/8 hat and I found the medium size to be a bit loose fitting. I'll be adding some VHS Hat Sizers to get a better fit. I'll say what many are saying; I wish this hat came in different colors. Having it in grey or a dark brown would be fantastic.

I really like this hat. It keeps out the rain and fits under a bike helmet. The sizing was just right for me. It arrived promptly and in good shape. I bought it because it reminded me of ""A Hard Day's Night.""

Finally broke away from baseball caps to go with this great hat. Very warm yet not heavy. Good fit. Many positive comments. Great conversation starter. Now looking for a warm weather hat.

Hat is great, but the sizing was off, even though I followed the chart. According to the chart I needed a small--had to send it back. Got a medium, and even that one is a little tight.

Even though the weather has been very cold, my man deceided to stop wearing his usual baseball caps because they would not go with his dresser clothes. I decieded he needed something on his head. This hat is adorable. The only thing I'm a little disappointed in is how thin the material is--it's not bad, I was just expecting thicker wool. Overall though, it's a great hat and fits well.
