Trilby Hats

Deriving its name from the theatrical adaptation of George du Maurier's 1894 novel, Trilby, the style was worn during the play's first London production and was thereafter dubbed a "Trilby" Hat. Although technically predating the play, Trilby Hats' popularity soared afterwards, reaching their peak in the 1950s and 1960s. 

Trilby Hats are best described as a Fedora Hat with a stingy, pre-snapped brim. They often feature a narrower crown compared to classic Fedora Hats, however, and are characterized by their short brims which are typically angled down at the front and up at the sides and back. The term Trilby Hat is often interchangeable with Stingy Brim Fedora, Blues-style Fedora, and Walking Hat styles.

Famously favored by Frank Sinatra, Trilby Hats have seen many resurgences since their heyday.
