UPF 50+ Sun Protection

Identical to the Scala Lanikai, but, with a small brim, the Lahaina is made from 100% cotton canvas, this hat breathes and easily packs up into a bag or suitcase. The kettle edge brim when turned down provides the ultimate sun protection. The square crown is completely lined in cotton poplin. A drawstring inside the sweatband allows you to adjust for a perfect fit.

This is one of my favorite hats from Scala. The shape of it makes it perfect for every occasion. It is not floppy or flimsy, instead it is a sturdy heavy cotton almost canvas hat that just keeps its shape. Love the crown height and shape too. Get compliments on it all the time. I have a ton of these, most in black, but I also have a few linen colored ones and white ones and I even sanded up getting one in pink because you just never know when you might actually need a pink hat , right?

I have a number of these smaller brim scala hats in different colors. I wear them when out and about -outdoors and indoors -when I shop or go in restaurants. I've worn these hats for years for golf. They are the perfect brim size to protect my face but not so large they interfere with my views of the course. This hat comes in lots of colors which is nice. They are adjustable so if it is a little windy, I can tighten it up a little.

This is my second purchase of this style of sunhat, I have one in Florida and now one in VA. Love the colors available, the drawstring feature has been a life saver as I have a small head and find it difficult to purchase hats, this style fits perfectly and the quality of fabric and manufacture is excellent.

Nice Hat but..

Well made hat with nice size adjustment feature and a wide array of colors. But the white lining shows when on the head and with the teal color of my hat it's not the best look. Does definitely keep the sun off but I'd prefer an even smaller brim for a more compact look. Also don't like the fact that you can't wash it and have it keep its shape. So..good style, nice colors, great fit - but a few minuses, too.

I like this sunhat because it has a smaller brim but keeps my face shaded. The only drawback is when it is washed it loses its stiffness. I wish it had a lining that was not white--something dark. The lining by my face discolors after wearing it a few times.

I play a lot of golf and these hats are perfect for keeping the sun off my face and ears. The smaller brim is perfect for me and does not get in the way. I figured out a way to sew a magnet inside each of my hats so even my ball marker is easy to reach. Village Hat has the best selection of these hats and their website is easy to use. Returns and exchanges are also very smooth.

Love the Scala hats! They are comfortable, look great, and are the best every day hat ever. Living in Southern California, I wear hats a lot to keep the sun wear and tear off my head. Scala hats simply fit the need. I have 3 colors at this time and will probably order more, so no matter what I'm wearing I have a hat color to go with it. Fit perfectly and have draw string if you need tighter. Only problem I've experienced is that on one of the hats, the stitching missed the brim band so I had to tuck it up under and restitch. Other 2 were perfect, just a fluke on one I guess.

Old version is GREAT! New ones are stiff canvas. everybody asks where I got the older version and I say that you can't get it it anymore...sad. You're losing money on that. Old ones I stuff in my suitcase and it stays neat and unwrinkled! Love love love the old ones!

These hats are very good at protecting from sun damage -- the brims are nice and long all the way around. I just wish the crown was a little bigger; the hat is just a bit too small to fit well. I never use the drawstrings at all.

I love the Scala Lahaina Sun hats and recently puchased two. I visit sunny Las Vegas frequently and need to wear a hat outside all day, every day. These pack well, are colorful and soft and fit like a dream. I wish they came in turquoise but they don't as of now. You will love these comfortable and cool sun hats as much as I do, and the brim IS moldable, another plus!

Perfect Sun Hat

I really love this hat. I don't enjoy wearing sunglasses, yet realize I should be protecting my eyes somehow, and this hat is my perfect solution. It is very comfortable and NOT hot at all. The brim can be converted into a variety of shapes to suit your mood or to adapt to the sun's angle. The width of the brim is just right to shade your face and back of neck, without looking like you're dressed for the Kentucky Derby. I think we can all acknowledge that huge-brimmed hats are just out of place everywhere but the beach! This hat travels with me and even after being squished in the suitcase or carry-on, it pops right back into shape for adventure on the hiking trails. I have three colors so far. I want the elusive yellow one on the website, but have not found it. When I do, it will be my fourth one!

Smaller brim

A great companion to the 5"" brim Scala Sun Hat. The larger hat has always struck me as appropriate only in July and August -- but protection from the sun is necessary in the spring and early fall, too! This smaller brim is less ostentatious but has the same great shape, fit and comfort of the larger hat.

I have the larger-brimmed Lanakai sun hat in several different colors, but always felt that it was a bit too big on my 5' frame. The LaHaina is a MUCH better fit for me---just wish it came in more colors. It's lightweight and comfortable, and the drawstring inside allows a custom fit. Perfect! But I'd love to see it in more colors----pretty please!
