This pith helmet is designed to be an historically accurate replica of that worn by the 24th RoF in the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879. It is a real pith helmet, handmade one hat at a time. Thanks to the reenactor groups who have helped with this design. These "Living History Units" have added that the Pith Helmet is also known as the U.S. M1881 Summer Helmet.

 

Please Note: Pith helmets can be immersed in water, whereby the wearer stays cool during use on hot summer days. When wet the hat may become a bit softer, but then dries to its original state. Please submerge the outside of the helmet carefully, without allowing water to spill into the interior of the helmet.

My purchase of the Zulu hat

I recently purchased two Zulu hats for my collection of character hats. It all started when I became a Dee Jay for parties. weddings and events and had the typical YMCA line-up of hats. Even after I stopped Dee Jaying I still enjoyed looking for a variety of hats. Now when anyone in my family needs a costume they know they can start with one of my hats, I purchased the white and kahki Zulu hats as well a kahki english army helmet. The quality is excellent. Next, I am lookng for a resonably priced Australian Slouch hat.

Son loves it
