Exclusive to Jaxon Hats, this fabulously styled Panama Hat was designed in California and has been spotted as one of Michael Jordan's favorite golf hats. The panama straw hat has been treated with water and stain repellent treatment, so the hat will look new longer and is still both breathable and durable.

Please Note: Hats, particularly straw hats, should never be handled by the crown. Hats should always be handled only by the brim. I've had one of these hats since the late 90s and it stuck with me forever until the pressure the top of my head started to rip the top off. So, I ordered a new one. It's much higher quality and there's now a reinforcement layer to make sure your head doesn't poke a whole through the top! Amazing! Look no further for a man's perfect gardening hat.

I purchased my first Panama Straw Outback Hat several years ago. Unfortunately, I damaged it recently and decided to buy another. The quality of these hats is excellent. The fit, most importantly, is right on. I wear a 7 1/4 and the large with the slightly elastic interior band fits perfectly. I highly recommend these, great looking, two nice colors. I've had one of each. Durability? Not too good when you hit a tree limb when mowing. The rest of the time, perfect. Fast careful shipping too.

SPF50+ Protection

MJ Panama Straw Hat look great. I do have a question. Hat was advertised as SPF50+ but when I got the hat there was no tag or notation stating the sun protection feature. I have had skin cancer on my face and the sun protection is critical. Would like to be assured the hat is SPF 50+.

This is probably the nicest Panama Straw hat that I have ever purchased. The crown is a nice height. It does not have any vent holes and the weave is so tight that airflow is minimal inside the hat, making it a hot hat. It keeps its shape nicely.

Although this my first Panama style hat, to me it has the look and feel of a quality Panama. Shipping was quick and it arrived in fine shape despite the box looking like it was run over by the delivery truck.

I love this hat and it looks very sharp. My only criticism and this may not be a fair one, but the hat seems very delicate. It doesn't recover well from a mistaken crush. The straw breaks easily and the hat looses its wonderful look. I'm buying another one and going to try and be more careful, but I was trying to with this one too and goofed once.

What sold me was the picture of the inside of the hat. Should describe the hat liner, especially if the hat has a crown reinforcement and if the panama is teflon coated. This is my first straw hat. The fit is great. I also get compliments from my friends who wear hats. But I find that the finish is not all that great. There are a few raw edge spots underneath the brim at the outer edge. They tend to catch on my fingers. Now, I realize that this is a $100 hat and not a $3000 hat but I am somewhat disappointed in the finish.

This is a great looking hat with excellent quality. I measure 22.5 inches for my head size and this put me just on the bottom edge of large. I think medium would be too small so I just added a little cushion in the sweat band. Only problem is that avoiding the rain this summer has made it difficult to wear the hat because it seems every day has some rain in it.

really like the outback shape. Fits well, I normally wear either a small or medium, and sometimes 6-7/8 or 7 even. Had to switch the small for a medium, but fit perfectly. Color could have been darker for my taste, but I am still very satisfied.

This is the fifth hat I've bought from Village Hat Shop. Four Sunbodys, and this Jaxon. All are excellent quality. The Sunbodys are heavier, thus stiffer in the wind, so they retain their shape, and don't flop around. This is good on windy days, but I also wanted something lighter. Another good selling point for me are the large sizes. I have a big head, size 7 7/8~8, so finding one that fits is a real pain. I've gotten a lot of compliments on all of them. My only complaint is that I paid an extra $30 for 2 day shipping, but it arrived 5 days later. I'd give 5 stars for the hat, but I'll deduct one for the shipping.

Good Quality - Correct Stiffness

If you read my other review, you'll see that I was surprised by the stiffness. I did a little more research and discovered that was to be expected. The color and weave of the crown and brim are very consistent and the backweave is perfect. The size might be a little on the large size, but it depends on your activity level. Mine is fine for walking but wouldn't stay on if I was running or the wind was blowing.

The quality of the material is very good, but it's very stiff - both the crown and the brim. It was surprising to me, making it less desirable. It's my first Panama, so maybe they're all like this. This one includes a reinforcement in the crown that strengthens it. Tapping the hat sounds like a tight drum. If I get my way, it will ""wear in"" over time. If so, the hat will be perfect.

i was looking for a straw version of a Pendleton outback hat for my man. he has a dinosaur sized head and their straw version didn't come in xxl. we were headed to Vegas for his bday and his wool Pendleton just wouldn't work for july. found a straw version at village hat shop and it was perfect, he was totally surprised and wore his hat thruout trip. very pleased with purchase!

My son gave me a $100 gift cert for fathers day from The village Hat Shop; he knows that this is the place my hats come from. I immediately selected this hat as well as the crushable outback pictured elsewhere. It's the hottest summer in Michigan history and there has hardly a day gone by that I have not worn this hat. It's very high quality, well made and has a liner inside the front top to keep the hat from getting crushed, what a brilliant idea. The hat is light and comfortable, my first Panama. I have other summer hats but this is the one I wear; an excellent choice.

The first one -- putty color -- I loved. It blew into the sea when I was out sailing. Circled back and picked it up. Wore it wet. It got a bit elongated -- which looked even better. Left it under a seat at the theater (a perennial problem with hats) and ordered another, also in putty color. Having learned from the first one, I dunked it in the pool and shaped it the way I wanted. Love it!

The hat was delivered quickly and was safely packed. I've just recently started to wear hats on a full time basis so I wanted to get something for warmer weather. I had seen this hat before on the vhs website but passed on purchasing it. When it went I sale I immediately bought it and I'm glad that I did. It doesn't seem very tightly woven, however, so it may not be the best thing for coverage from the sun. On the other hand, it seems to let air in nicely when there's a breeze! It also had a few broken strands, one at a fairly noticeable place on the top of the crown, but I thought that just goes with having a straw hat. It's not a big deal, and I feel that I got a nice hat at a good price.

BEAUTIFUL HAT

I already had this hat in the natural color. It is my favorite out of 5 hats so when you put it on sale I had to have another one. I got the putty color this time so I have a color choice. This hat came slightly larger than the first (handmade is going to vary from hat to hat). Fortunately, I had a vhs hat sizer on hand. Now it fits perfectly.The teflon coating makes the hat stiff, but sheds rain very well and stays clean. Thanks for another great value in a great hat.

Comfortable and fits well but I have found the construction to be on the wimpy side. I may use my hat harder than most as I am outside at least a couple of hours a day at work and use the hat almost every day. I don't see it lasting more than a season under that use. The brim is not a sufficiently tight weave to block out the sun - it leaves bright spots shining through. Probably fine for someone looking for a casual sun shield.
