Made of 100% natural palm fiber, Tula hats are naturally water resistant in addition to sustainable and environmentally friendly. Their unique overlapping layers of braided and sewn palm fibers give Tula hats the highest solar protection (UPF – Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating on the market of 50+. Rigorously tested by California Polytechnic State University, Tula was actually commended for their excellent solar protection by the University: “The brim area of these hats is excellent, in fact, we have never tested anything with 0% transmittance. Congratulations on this protection!”

The palm straw is hand-woven with double lock stitches. Features a hat band/chin cord and toggle to keep the hat securely in place. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hat for the money. I generally wear a 7 3/8 cowboy hat, the L/XL fit perfect. the palm leaf is new to me. I just retired my Resistol Bangor straw purchased in '95. Time will tell how this one holds up, so far so good.
Well built, properly sized and a great hat for Summer or sunny Spring days!
I have had a Tula hat before, and eventually the open weave part got worn out, so I replaced with this hat. This hat doesn’t have an area of open weave, so I believe it will hold up even longer than the last one. The hats are excellent quality and comfort. The hat band is comfortable. The extra wide rim provides so much shade and sun protection. The chin strap keeps it in place in the wind. It has a cool style, cowboy-like. Love it!
