Crushable Wool Felt Outback Hat

I ordered a hat from The Village hat shop, and received a great looking hat, that fit great, at a good price, in a timely manner. and will be glad to do business with them again.

I've gotten a lot of compliments on the hat. It looks great. It's perfect for days when a summer hat is not appropriate, but isn't so cold that I need a ski cap. This is a perfect hat in weather between extreme hot or cold.

The Village Hat Shop hats are good to size. This Crushable Wool Felt Outback Hat by Jaxon Hats, is a superb hat for the cost. You’d be crazy to not buy this hat.

Loved it, except seems just to be just a little small even though large size. Over time that may correct on its own.
Wish I would have got the lighter brown, this one almost black.

Ordering was a breeze. Returned first hat for wrong size. Our fault not yours. Refund was amazingly fast. Reorder in correct size was also very simple. Our only problem was too many choices,a good problem.

Having finally decided to purchase a hat I chose a brown crushable outback fedora. It arrived in a timely fashion and packaged in a way that protected the hat. It fit perfectly and the colour was exactly as shown. The questions I had prior to ordering the fedora were answered by a very knowledgeable staff. To sum it up... this hat is perfect.

This is my second Jaxon Outback hat purchase. I wanted to add another color choice to my western hat wardrobe and the pecan color looked good online. I felt no disappointment in any way, even compared to a couple of other pricier western hats that I own. I get lots of compliments from both male and female hat lovers on these outback-styled hats. When ordering, do be aware that these hats tend to size a bit smaller than their labeled size.

The hat was what I wanted and looked good. It was a little large, but I expected that since I fall between a Medium and a Large.
Only down side is the length of time to ship the hat. It took longer than I expected. I ordered items from another company after the hat and received them before it (same method of shipping).

I love this hat. It seems too nice to be "crushable." The felt is luxurious to the hand. It's a distinctive blend of a fedora with a broad brim and outback flair. You'll wear it everywhere. The size runs a trifle large.

Purchased after reading/researching many types of outback fedora styles.
My wife likes the look. I am switching from ball caps to brim style headwear for sun protection. This fills the bill. Haven't owned long enough to judge the wear/care factor. Will consider other than felt in this style for summer wear.

After talking with vendor (Village Hat) I ordered this hat. Hat arrived and is only slightly big. Fixed with hat band sizing material.
Very soft felt to the feel, but seems to hold definition well, Had to teach wife to set hat on dresser with crown down, not brim down.
I am very pleased with this purchase, and will buy from them again in the future. Shipping was long but problem seemed to be USPS problem. Box that hat arrived in was excellent. Hat was well protected.

I have had this hat for ten year now and it has survived multiple trips crushed in suitcases, being sat on and getting wet. The only thing to happen is the color faded from being worn in the sun for years. I will not deduct stars for this as it has held up in the worst conditions.

Great hat, but when it arrived the brim was rolled up cowboy style. Received advice via your website on "flattening" out the brim to be more authentically Aussie.

Just received my second hat, first was brown and second black. Fits great and frequently receive compliments from friends and strangers. My biggest complaint was the amount of time for delivery from San Diego to my home in Columbus, OH. 15 days total, 14 days in first leg by First Mile to my post office and 1 day by post office for final delivery. I would suggest VHS find an alternative to First Mile. 14 days is too long in our current online environment.

best all purpose hat! performs as expected and it does snap back in place if you fold and roll as explained in their video. If you want a chin strap there are a number of ways to add that option with a leather or braided shoe string and a little work. I use eyelets to prevent wear and tear on the felt.

This hat fits perfectly and I have a very large head, so it's nice to find the right size. It's a Great hat for the Southern California "Winters". It would be nice to have a chin strap, because there are some windy days...

This is my first "nice" hat, but I feel I made a good decision. The hat looks to be well made and of quality materials. While already water resistant, I sprayed it down with Scotch Guard without any ill effects for anyone wondering. If you use it while hiking (as I do) you may wish to get the one with chin straps as the wind can take it!

I ordered a crushable Jaxon hat for my husband. Hat was received. Too big. We talked to a customer rep on the phone and he told us about hat sizers. OK, good deal, but could we exchange for a different color? Sure. Oops; the computer says we have one more but there are none in stock. Rats. 20 minutes later the phone rings; it's the Village Hat Shop. The person we talked to had personally gone down the the shipping area to make sure there wasn't one more. Yes! He found the errant hat, sent it to us with no shipping charge and threw in the sizer strips to boot. What great service!

I was so nervous about ordering a hat for my husband online. He has a very nice wool hat that he wears quite often but I was looking for something a little less hot and not so heavy. I couldn't have chosen a better hat - he was so happy with it and it looks amazing on him. Very handsome. Bought the Jaxon Crushable Outback Hat for my 6 year old grandson. I have similar hat and my grandson wanted one like his pawpaw. He loved the hat, quality was excellent, service was great and on time. I would buy again from Village Hat Shop.

Great dress hat. Good coverage for a night on the town or stepping up to the church foyer in the dead of winter. This is a soft, warm hat made well and, if you do not crush it, looks good. If you crush it, it remains warm, sturdy and functional but buy a new one for the wedding day or Sunday gathering. A new one just looks better than a crushed one.

I had looked at a lot of web sites and found this one and the Hat was exactly what I wanted, I had a black one , but wanted a brown and this is a real light weight soft and warm hat that looks great to boot.
Best part was the price, I believe you get what you pay for and this hat is made like a very expensive one and does not brake the bank.

I bought this hat for a Jewish family member. He inspected it and found it to be a perfect fit to his attire as well as his Western pride. A prohibition exists for Jews forbidding the mixture of wool and linen. He inspected this hat and decided it was good; I'm no authority, but based on our research, this hat met his standards and has many purposes!

The hat itself has excellent form and retains its shape like magic. I tried to roll it up and put it in my pocket like in the video, and it sprung right back. I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of the material used (it looks very nice!) as well as the angle and curvature of the brim and crown. This hat, in brown would give its wearer any look they desire, from the cowboy, the casual Westerner or the Indiana Jones-Wannabe. A great hat and well worth my money. Highly recommended!

I've had a similar hat for years and loved it dearly but it was finally just too bent out of shape to look presentable. This hat is a great improvement on my old one with beautiful lines and subtle leather hat band. There is a little removable pin on the band with a "J" for the manufacturer, Jaxon. (I removed it.) Fits according to the size guide here at Village Hat Shop. I like the hat so much that I'm trying to justify buying a second one. The hat came carefully packaged which I really appreciated. The only thing I'm wondering about is whether or not I should apply a weatherproofing spray.

Because my head measured exactly between XL and 2XL, I ordered one hat in each size. When they arrived (quickly, I might add), both fit! I decided to keep them both.
These hats have a nice wide brim to keep the sun off my face, which is why I wanted them. The inside band is not one of those elastic things that give you a headache. A real quality product.

It was much better looking and made than I expected. A very fine quality product. The only flaw was my mistake: I ordered the wrong size. The hat sizer I subsequently ordered, however, fixed the problem very nicely.

My new Outback arrived in perfect condition. Size medium fits my 7 1/8" head just right; not too tight, but not too loose. I've worn it fishing in light rain and it held up fine. Dried quickly. It also keeps my head warm on chilly evenings outside. I highly recommend this hat to those who are looking for something casual, not flashy or dorky, good quality, practical, and not too expensive.

I could have went for a more expensive hat but this is for work. So far I like the hat a lot. Maybe not quite as much as the Henschel hat I bought previously but they do not offer a felt hat like this. I think the size runs a little large. Good functional no frills hat that has already kept some rain off my head.

Color is supposed to be green but it sure looks brown as other reviewers have said. Crown slopes a bit so it is lower at the back than the front so my head tends to push the bash up in back. The "elastic" sweatband doesn't seem very elastic. Like the suppleness and fit though. It rolls up easier than a stetson I also got. I like the wide brim (after radiation therapy on my neck I have to keep sun off). We'll see how it holds up when I sweat in it.

We bought 60 of these hats for the members of our alumni drum and bugle corps. We added a red sequin band and a chin cord, turned up the left side and added a 6 inch plume. Our members are truly overjoyed at how much style they add to our uniform. The quality of these hats is outstanding. They were packaged very nicely and arrived very quickly. Hats don't last forever, especially when I leave them in the sun for too long or in a rental car, bummer. But I've bought several hats from the Village Hat Shop, and I have to say it is always a delight. They have a great selection, and their prices are competitive with anyone. Looking at the picture on the site now. The hat is exactly as pictured, though I somehow thought the brim would be just a bit narrower than it really is. Still like the hat, fit is good as suggested by the size chart. Did a crush test on it, and it popped right back into shape. Turned water in a light rain, but haven't seen it perform in a downpour yet.

The order came quickly. I am very happy with the way it looked.

Received this hat about 2 weeks ago and wear it every day. I really like the elastic band and it is so comfortable I sometime forget I am wearing it. I had it on when I got caught in an odd heavy winter rain and it kept my head dry and warm and then the hat dried quickly. My son loves wearing it too so I just bought a small in black for him.

I've only had the hat for a week or two, but so far it is satisfactory. As one other reviewer noted, the brim curls up more on the sides than I expected or would have liked, but my wife says it looks fine so we'll keep it. I do like the elastic head band; the hat fits snugly but without being tight or binding in any way.

This is a nice hat. Definitely has an Australian outback feel. Good construction. The large tends to be slightly larger than other hats marked large but not by a lot. Crown is a bit shallow. The material has a soft ""hand"". Brown is a rich deep brown. This is a hat which people will notice. You probably won't have anybody tell you it's a bad looking hat, but a number of people will tell you it's a good looking hat.

I bought the Outback Crushable #135002 for $44 on 12/30/13. I also bought another hat but had to return it because it's way too small. Anyway, I'm disappointed because when I returned the other hat, I see that the Outback Crushable is now on $37.40. It's only $6.60 less, but 6.60 is 6.60 and I'd rather have it in my kid's bank account rather than Jaxon Hats.... The hat, though, is a nice fit! and I like it. Frank

Good looking hat, but definitely NOT green - couldn't get any more brown if you tried! It runs a little large, but not so much as it won't fit OK.

Great hat but I wanted a GREEN hat, the color of the olive hat is very brown looking. It's possible it's a very dark olive drab, but it sure doesn't look green.

I bought two one black and one olive.they fit well, look good. Got alot of compliments. The olive color hat wasn't quite the color I thought it would be, but still kept it anyway. I will purchase from this company again.

The hat is comfortable and stands up to abuse. Keeps its shape. The size runs a bit big, problems solved with a bit of foam stripping in the inside band.... perfect to wear in all weather...

I've been wearing this hat for over a week now and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I was looking for a hat that was different from the typical department store look and VHS delivered! The hat fits very comfortably and the material is sturdy but not heavy. The crushable material is worth paying extra for and it keeps it's shape nicely! The Leather strap is very good quality too and provides a nice finish. You will need the recommended brush though since the hat gets dirty easily.Look wise expect something between a fedora and a cowboy hat look. I've been wearing a fedora for a while and I like the addition of the wider brim for blocking the sun. Some people might find the cowboy hat comparison off-putting (as well as the Indiana Jones resemblance) but if you are not shy this is the hat for you!In summary: High quality material, get the brush to clean it, and enjoy the bold look!5/5

Got the outback crushable hat about three months ago for the purpose, that i ride a motorcycle with hardbags and do not have to worry about it getting out of shape. Also lite weight, easy to clean and, medium brim to keep the sun off. I have a lot of people ask me where i got it.

After returning the extra large as it was too big, I am an in between size, I reordered the large to find that this too ran a bit large. The second hat also arrived with more curl to the rim, which is a feature that is not what I expected especially after receiving the first order. As the return shipping cost, even for exchanges, brings me near to the price of the hat, I will work with it. Other wise, I received the hat in a timely manner and it is made with a good quality fabric.

The brim of this hat curves much higher at the sides, than the images lead you to expect. The overall effect is one of Wild-West instead of Outback.I certainly won't be able to wear this hat in Europe, most especially not here in Switzerland, except to a fancy-dress-party.Oh well, at least I have a reason to visit the U.S. now ...

Really good hat. In the wind and snow, wished it had a chin strap to keep in on. This is not a complaint. It only blew off once. Am definitely enjoying it!

My husband's new job requires lots of walking outside from building to building, exposing him to all types of weather. He had never worn a hat, so it was an experiment to find one we both liked. I think he looks very dashing in it and he loves it for the warmth, protection, and looks. He has gotten lots of compliments on it. His only complaint is that it does not fit as snug as he would like, however, he has an unusually small head size. We give it a ""rave"" review.

There s a bit more ""western"" sweep to the brim than is evident in the picture but overall a great hat. Huge difference to my bald pate in the winter.

This hat looks very good in the pictures but, as someone else stated, it is different when you get it. The side brims do turn up much more than shown in pics. Looks like the one lawyer on teh TV commercials wears. Sent mine back.

Picture does NOT represent the highly upturned brim nor does the literature describe the wire insert to maintain it such... not to my liking. Also the sizing is smaller than normal by one size. After corrective ""surgery"", the hat is now acceptable for rough outdoor use.

The hat is not what it looks like in the pics. The side brims turn up much more than shown and do not reform down. Really looks goofy.

I have a crushable hat similar to this one. When I was in Macedonia this summer, I met a man who loved the hat. I have p;ut pins in my hat from every country I have visited, and of course the USA.I put a pin from Germany (my Macedonian friend finally got to visit Germany in August) and a pin from Arizona, my home state. I mailed the hat to my friend in Macedonia. I am waiting to hear that he received it.

I received my hat by mail but the size was a bit large so I called customer service. They were very courteous and offered to exchange for a smaller size. Instead I went to their outlet in Long Beach so I know I have the hat that fits. The salesladies were very helpful and I was out of there in no time. This looks good in the picture, but it was a big disappointment. The sizing was inaccurate-and I went to a local hat shop for an actual measurement. Also, the sweep of the brim was not as pictured. Save your money and keep looking.

I had been looking for a decent hat that I could wear regularly in the local stores and everything I found in this price range looked a little cheesy. My husband had been looking for a ""crushable"" hat for years. He had one that was from another company that no longer produced them. When he found your website, he was so excited.
