This Indian style pith helmet, a.k.a. the Bombay Bowler, is the most popular pith helmet style in North America. These hats are made from the cork, or pith, of trees from northern Vietnam using techniques developed 100 years ago by the French during their occupation. The helmet is functional in both sunny and rainy weather.

Please Note: Pith helmets can be immersed in water, whereby the wearer stays cool during use on hot summer days. Please submerge the outside of the helmet carefully, without allowing water to spill into the interior of the helmet.

Indian Pith Helmet

I live in South Texas. Great hat; I love to wear it outside doing yard work. Keeps my head and face protected. Only one who’s wearing one in town. Maybe I’ll start a trend.

VHS will not stand behind their faulty product

I have bought the french and the safari styles (no problems, love the hats); this time was the indian style. Multiple faults in the product, fairly concealable so I didnt worry about it. Hat started to fall apart 3rd time wearing it (brass rivets that hold the harness system) VHS decided they will not replace their faulty product, but welcomed me to buy another (...wait, what???). Find another place to spend your money. 1/3 faulty (33%) and refusal to back your product are bad odds.
