Although superseded by the Panama hat in this century, the Skimmer was for many decades the man's straw hat of choice. The Italian Skimmer by Capas is Made in Italy from 4-ply Koberg straw. This is an authentic, high quality Skimmer hat often associated with barber shop quartets, jazz bands, and the like. (Also known as a Boater or Sailor).

I’ve wanted a good quality hat like this since I was a kid and saw one in a movie! I finally pulled the trigger on this one, and I love it! This hat is the real deal! It’s very rigid and sturdy. My head is 59cm. I ordered a 59 and it was just a tad big, but a make-shift hat sizer made it fit perfectly. Thank you, Village Hat Shop!
Still one of the most functional and underappreciated hats on the planet. It fits well. It's great in the sun. And, it's full of style. What started out as a boater can be worn just about anywhere.
