The Sou'wester Rain Hat is iconic, it conjures up images of inclement weather and rough seas. Historians believe the name of the hat is based upon the Sou'wester winds, encountered mostly in the seas of United Kingdom. Wear the Sou'wester Rain Hat and dress up as: Paddington Bear, Gorton's Fisherman, or as Ben (the fisherman from I Know What You Did Last Summer).
Kathy Jeanne has produced their Sou'wester Rain Hat, using the traditional silhouette:
- Wide brim in the front to keep rain out of your eyes, but narrow enough so strong winds will cause the brim to cover your eyes. Turn up the front brim to create a rain gutter.
- Long brim in the back to ensure rain doesn't hit the back of your neck and down into your coat.
- Earflap to cover your ears for warmth.
- Chin cord to secure the hat in windy conditions.
